So should one choose the 8500 over the 2500 now that the 8500's have been out for awhile?

I was researching COSC certificates and came across this article. Not surprised at the costs to get a certificate off Omega. Swatch Group obviously needs the money. Omega Watches have been in my family for over a century. They were the choice of my grandparents and parents. My first was given to me in 1977 a quartz..the 'new fangled' technology. A speedmaster and seamaster followed in the next few years. Sadly since my early dealings with Omega in the 70's their customer service has gone downhill. My last dealing was about two years ago with the quartz sent for service and strap replacement to Switzerland. 8 months wait. $1800.00 in costs and it was returned minus the strap buckle. My first emails were responded to by telling me where to go to BUY a new buckle. How about my original 18k buckle back or a new one on the new strap as was originally requested? More emails and an eventually an offer for a plated buckle. Sentimental watch so cost was not considered. Poor service unlike the old days. Omega never again. I hope someone out there likes my old solid 18k buckle. They did return the other old parts replaced though.

Just tried this on my Planet Ocean - works a treat!! Had a nasty surface scratch obtained after a mere week of wearing (WOW these clasps mark easilly!!); I stressed about it a lot; but this technique works flawlessly!!

I was initially concerned about using a 'scouring pad' on the clasp thinking it would just scratch it even more - however it's not the case... just going slowly with a little pressure in one (downward) direction did the trick nicely!

I used a brand new official 3M ScotchBrite pad - I also bought a 'non scratch' varient which I haven't tried yet; however will be interesting to see what effect (if any) that has.

Ideally I would like to do (as you suggest) this once every 3-4 months, since I suspect that doing it too often would ruin the finish after not very long! However, for now, at least I know there is a way back from minor surface scratches to my beloved PO :-D
